Very limited assembly is required with this machine and it boasts eight easy-to-adjust resistance levels. The Phoenix 99608 recumbent exercise bike isn’t noisy, and it doesn’t take up much space, plus it isn’t as heavy as one would expect from an Exercise Machine. So moving it around the house from location to location shouldn’t be a problem. Many of the reviewers on Amazon.com gave the bike a very nice rating overall, and find themselves happy with their purchasing decision. One reviewer did a comparison with this machine against the Schwinn Active 20 and this is what they found.
Overall the Active 20 is much more comfortable and it also comes with a nice cup holder. It does have a more advanced computer as well. However, the reviewer felt that this could be a downside though. If you want to change the resistance on the Active 20 you will need to use the computer. On the other hand, with the Phoenix recumbent exercise bike, it is done using a mechanical dial. But they mentioned that the computers on both bikes seemed pretty cheap regardless. Basically, if something should go wrong with the computer on the Phoenix, you will still be able to adjust the resistance level.
Many other reviewers have remarked that they love this bike. They feel that it is well constructed and operates very quietly. Another person stated that it is a bare bones system that works well, and they use it as part of a varied workout routine. This isn’t the highest quality exercise bike you will find on Amazon for sure, but it is certainly one of the best ones you will find for under $200.
Many reviewers have mentioned that the seat is a tad thin and not as comfortable as other bikes. After 30 – 60 minutes many people have had to walk around to get the blood flowing again. Another reviewer said that the bike offers enough resistance at level 2 ( of 8 ) to get their heart going nicely, and they can simulate hills by clicking to level 3 or 4 and really get puffing.
Of the negative reviews, a couple people mentioned that they received a damaged product and sent it back for a refund, and another found that after 3 weeks of riding, the bike started having some problems with the pedal coming loose as they rode. After 5 weeks the arm holding the pedal in place is now completely stripped rendering the bike useless.
For the price, this exercise bike is simply hard to beat though. One customer even bought an additional bike so they would have one in their summer home as well as their winter home. Many have been incredibly impressed with this bike. If you are on a budget and looking to get a good bike at a great price, definitely check this one out.
